Business owner Agnius Gorys is active in many charitable initiatives focused on aiding children with cancer. Agnius Gorys helped a young victim of a spinal stroke by contributing to the Help Meilita Walk Again campaign on GoFundMe.
Established by Robert Slezak of Palos Hills, Illinois, the campaign benefits a young friend of the Slezak family named Meilita. A youth tennis player, Meilita was the doubles partner of Mr. Slezak’s daughter. She suffered a spinal stroke, an injury uncommon in young people. The inoperable condition severely impacted her ability to move her legs.
With the assistance of the Help Meilita Walk Again campaign, she continues to make gradual gains in her physical abilities. In late August 2022, campaign organizers announced that, while her leg mobility has improved, she is still unable to stand on her own. In addition to progressing physically, she graduated high school and enrolled in online college classes.
